Marg Jagruti Exhibition at Vasco

SARA FROILANO MACHADO MEMORIAL EXHIBITION INAUGURATED

A six day Marg Jagruti Exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Vasantbab Anna Joshi opposite the Municipal Council Building, Vasco today morning in the presence of Shri Gurunath Kelekar, convenor of MARG, Dr. Uday Nagarseker President of Vasco Marg Jagruti Parishad and Chairman of Vasco Welfare Forum and Freedom fighter and MARG director Shri Madhukar Murdekar. The exhibition is organised by MARG (Movement for Amity Towards Roads in Goa)in collaboration with the Vasco Welfare Forum and is housed in a specially erected pandal.

The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of late Sara & Froilano Machado. It may be recalled that Sara Machado died in a tragic road accident a few years back.

The exhibition of visual photos depicts the grim reality of the horrible and fearful road accidents on the Goan roads. This exhibition of telling photographs is surely going to create a lasting impression on the viewer and change his/her attitude in observing road discipline.

The organisers look forward that the citizens of Vasco will visit the exhibition and get inspired to inculcate good road discipline and awareness, specially so among the student community. In the recent past Vasco has seen several road accidents many of which resulted in fatalities within the city limits.

The exhibition will continue till 20th Sept 2009 (Sunday) from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. in the evening. On the first day iself after the inaugural ceremony till late in the evening the exhibition had nearly 600 visitors several of whom were students.

MARG is distributing free literature, posters and other printed material imparting education in road discipline and overall awareness in avoiding accidents on Goan roads.

The exhibition will conclude with a two day conference at Sheikh Mohindin Nagar, i.e. Vasco Residency, on 19th and 20th Sept 2009 from 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. were issues relating to roads, accidents, environmental pollution,will be debated by prominent citizens of Vasco together with the concerned Government Agencies. A poetry session 'EK Shyam MARG ke Nam' specially centered on road accidents is slated on the first day in the afternoon. Poets from Vasco and all over Goa are expected to attend and recite their poems.

College and higher secondary school students are also invited to take part in the two day conference and a special session 'Road Culture Goa's Gift to India' will be centered on the views expressed by the youth.
